Charles Green Design provide architectural services for Cornwall, and has evolved to specialise in bespoke house design. A firm commitment to energy efficiency and environment conscious design solutions is deep rooted in the practice and has been with us since we first established in Redruth, Cornwall in 1992. Since inception, we have established a strong working relationship with local authorities, specialist consultants and trades.
Our design ethos results in buildings that blend the requirements of our clients with the demands of each individual locality and of the wider environment. We are equally at ease producing traditional vernacular or contemporary design solutions – it really depends on the client and project location.

Straw bale design
Charles Green Design is credited with designing what is thought to be the first use of straw bales as external cladding within a house in Cornwall and the practice has a reputation for innovative and creative design solutions in general.
Passivhaus
On the technical side, we are currently designing buildings to ‘Passivhaus’ standard where appropriate and have a good understanding of straw bales, hemp and lime, rammed earth, cob, masonry, timber frame or SIP’s.
We constantly work with external consultants as may be required in order to establish the most appropriate technological solutions for individual building design.
