Charles Green

Charles Green

Born in South Africa, Charles emigrated to England in 1979. Based initially in the home counties, Charles worked on a freelance basis for a number of London interior design practices before moving to Cornwall in 1992 to set up the current architectural design practice in Redruth.

Charles has acquired a broad knowledge of design – in theory and in practice – and has proven ability for achieving successful design solutions on difficult sites. Charles’ design philosophy is to treat every project as being unique.  All design solutions are inspired and driven by the particular environment and constraints presented.

Charles has been interested in Environmental issues since the early 1990′s and he has a particular interest in building with straw bales. [Charles is building a straw bale extension to his home later this year].

As principle designer, Charles oversees each project within the office, ensuring consistent levels of quality in design and project information produced.

Peter Dangerfield, BSc (Hons), pgDip Arch: AEES.

Peter Dangerfield

Peter Dangerfield

Peter joined Charles Green Design in 2004 whilst still studying Architecture: Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies, at CAT (Centre for Alternative Technology). Since this time he has developed to the roll of Senior Designer and has continued to further his studies and passion for environmentally conscious solutions to the built environment, helping to give an educated and enthusiastic approach to his designs.

His current passions include ‘PassivHaus’ design and he is currently involved in the design of two different projects designed to ‘Passivhaus’ standard. He has completed a ‘Passivehaus’ design software (PHPP) and ‘Therm’ thermal bridge modelling courses, and is looking to become an accredited ‘Passivehaus’ designer.

With a background education in ‘Product Design’ Peter has held a passion for architecture for many years and prior to working at Charles Green Design has been involved in architecture projects in Manchester, Brighton, Cornwall and Devon. He was part of a design team for a children’s playground in Hulme, Manchester and was actively involved with the building of the Brighton Earthship.

Peters BSc (Hons) degree in Product Design gives him a good understanding of human needs, ergonomics and some of the finer construction details involved in modern building design. His personal projects in this area have included off road walking frames for his disabled uncle, PingPong ball juggeling machine and solar powered mood light display venetian window blind, which was exhibited in the ‘Ideal Homes Exhibition’ young designer of the year section.

He has a keen interest in renewable energy and in his free time has powered small stages at UK festivals and abroad with home made wind and solar systems. He has also been involved in making bespoke stages made from recycled materials with a collective called www.recycledvenues.org.uk.

Peter is also involved in the design and renovation of his Cornish cottage and family home trying to bring it up to modern energy standards whilst maintaining its traditional character. Along term project! What with a growing family.

In his free time he enjoys camping, walking/hiking, gardening and spending time with his partner and daughter.
